Weston FC Win Domestic Championship 1-0
Weston FC hung on for dear life in the dying minutes of their Domestic Championship clash with FC Dallas to win 1-0 and advance to the Championship on Friday morning.
The Florida side dominated the first half, immediately putting Dallas goalie Julien Eyestone under siege. The netminder held strong, making several fine saves. Weston did manage to find a way past him in the sixth minute, though, when defender Diego Ramirez slotted home a layoff from a corner kick.
Weston piled on the pressure for the rest of the first half, but couldn’t beat Eyestone again; he finished the match with seven saves.
After the interval, the roles reversed with Dallas piling pressure on the Weston net. Goalie Diego Kochen and his defense kept their area clear.
Dallas could have pulled the game in the final seconds, when Keyrol Figueroa had two gilt edged chances that he couldn’t put away.
Weston advances to the Prospects Cup championship on Friday at 10:45AM EST; they’ll face off against Manchester City. FC Dallas will play Fluminense in the Consolation game at 9:00 AM.
